Autodesk University is a great experience for anyone working
in or with Autodesk software to get a glimpse of what the future will hold for
their industries. The show features engineering, rendering, and manufacturing
software with a growing field of construction solutions. GTP had one of the
largest booths in the building at 20’x60’ which is quite a canvas to showcase
our company and our offerings. The problem we found is that one of our greatest
offerings is flexibility and collaboration. As a channel partner, vendor,
consultant and software developer, we found ourselves trying to capture not
only the products that we provide, but also who we are working with and what
we’re doing to help bring solutions to the field. As a software company we have
a great means of capturing what we can do with software, and we don’t aspire to
trying to take over the BIM market, so how do we show that GTP Solutions not
only work with your existing tools and workflows? We bring everyone in on the
“Jobsite of Tomorrow”
We showed up with a big rack for holding monitors,
displaying seismic hangers, deck installation solutions. Each of our partners
showed up to explain how they’re working with GTP and the BIM model to improve
your existing products and produce better solutions.
Graybar joined us in the booth to discuss model based
procurement and how the BIM model can improve the services they deliver.
Greenlee was there to discuss the bendworks software
package, how it works with the GTP Electrical add-in for Revit, and how they
can provide fast documentation for the prefabrication of conduits in a variety
of sizes on a variety of benders.
GTP was showing off the TopCon robotic total stations
explaining how they can save huge amounts of time on layout. Power Fasteners
was there explaining how their upper attachments can be laid out on the deck
for precast anchoring as well as showing off some of their drilling solutions
for getting through the deck.
Lincoln Electric was there showing off their PowerWave line of welders that track welding information, and we were there to show how we brought the information back into the model for weld tracking.
All in all, it was a great experience and really showcased the approach GTP is taking to our development strategies. We’re looking to augment your current workflows, while minimizing redundancy, maximize efficiency, and never limit your options.
